We categorise each second hand clothing and home décor piece on our website into three categories: new with tags, no signs of use/wear, very good.

New with tags

This item still has its original tags or packaging and no signs of use, as if you had bought it direct from the retailer. With us it’s the same as shopping with the retailer, but a lot cheaper. 

No signs of use/wear

This item does not have its original tags or packaging but there are no signs of use. This means, apart from its tags being missing, this item appears brand new. 

Very good

This item appears in excellent condition but on closer inspection, there may be small signs of use or age. Read the product description for more information.

We’ll never tell you that you should shop second hand instead of brand new, all we will suggest is the reasons why we think second hand is so much better! At the end of the day, how you shop for your clothing and home décor should suit you. But in our experience, we’ve found that until people try second hand they simply don’t realise how many benefits it has and how it can work for them!

Shopping second hand has many benefits such as saving money; being able to access higher quality brands at reduced prices, a wide choice of items available across all product categories including clothing and home décor and of course the positive environmental impact. You are reducing waste to landfill and reducing the need for new items to be produced.

At Sunshine Thrift we have a two-stage quality check in place for each and every item which means that every item you see on our website has been checked twice for faults. In the event we find a fault we will endeavour to repair it and if it cannot be repaired, we will not add it to our website so you are only ever shopping the best of the best second hand clothes available.

It is important that we strike the right balance! Some second hand and vintage home décor items have general wear simply because of their age, which only adds to their charm, so these items will still make it to our website but the condition category will be listed as ‘very good.’ If a fault is identified on a second hand clothing item that does not impact its use or overall look we will continue list it on our website, also categorised as in ‘very good’ condition. Should you wish, you can filter out these items on any of our collection page.
